Cleaning
As with any other exterior surface, air-borne dirt accumulates and should, from time to time be cleaned as described below.  In areas where the concentration of pollutants is high, or where there is excessive air-borne dirt, washings will be required more frequently.  Abrasive cleaners, solvents or paint remover should never be used for cleaning.  After cleaning, rinse thoroughly with clear water.

General Cleaning
Normal air-borne dirt may be removed with a garden hose and a soft brush similar to those used for washing automobiles.

Excessive air-borne dirt or high pollution
A common household detergent (for example 1/3 cup of Tide with 1 gallon of warm water) applied with a soft brush or cloth will remove this excessive material.

Major accumulations of dirt or concentration of pollutants
To one gallon of water, add the following:
1/3 cup of a household detergent
2/3 cup Trisodium Phosphate (available in hardware or other outlets under various trade names)***
    1 quart 5% <<Sodium Hypochlorite>> (eg., Clorox)***

*** CAUTION: Greater concentrations of these may cause damage to the paint finish.  Always follow manufacturers’ cautions and instructions as labeled on the products.
